Sure can,wear heavy gloves though.Keeps you from getting bit and from having the skin knocked off your knuckles when the impulse trips.Ask me how I know this! Take off the cap and use a piece of wire from the high tension output to a spark plug grounded to the case of the mag.I just hold a plug up beside the mag [wearing heavy gloves]and spin the impulse drive.A little trial-error and you'll get the hang of it. Good luck--don't get bit!!
