I started using a product called POR 15 on my classic Camaro a few years back. I tried their gas tank sealer and their Metal Clean. This stuff works great. You cannot believe it. Pour I the Metal clean in the tank with a chunk of chain to abrade the surface and shake it around for a few minutes. Pour the contents back into the bottle. Then fully flush the tank with water. Let this completely dry. There may be a white chalky residue left in some areas. If there is much, redo this process again. This is rust scale. When complete with that, cap the threaded insert in the bottom of the tank and pour in the tank sealer. Roll the tank around to completely cover all the internal surfaces. Then pour the remains back into the can and seal for later use in other tanks. Let the tank dry for a couple days before filling with fuel. That’s it.

I did the tank on my Camaro and it had several pinholes on it. This sealed all of them and, I believe, it added some strength the surrounding areas. Give it a try. I have included the website. Total cost is about $25.
