I just rebuilt the one on my Farmall B. I think someone had tipped over the tractor as all things sticking upward were damaged. The lower part of the filter is soldered on. I heated it up and tapped it off with a hammer as I kept it hot. What I did was made a good one out of two. The good one I bought at the salvage yard had a couple of dents in the side. So I took all the screens out of the inside. That is the hard part as they are tightly pushed into the can. The screens also change size as you move up the filter. I ended up damaging some of the upper ones getting them out, but was able to straighten out and put back. After getting them all out I could get all the dents out and then reassemble. Then I soldered the bottom back on. It really turned out looking nice. I am not sure how you would convert to a cartridge filter. The thing is the air comes in the center and goes out the side so it may be able to adapt some kind of air filter if you could get some kind of a seal at the top. Trouble is that is the reverse of how filters are usually installed. Good luck. Roger
