I agree with you Doug, the only thing my experience has taught me is that for all that a pan gasket costs, pull the pan and clean it up , install a new gasket and make your switch to the oil of your choice. In most cases I'd bet that these tractors that we accumulate have been on non detergent oil, after all by the sixties and seventies detergent oils were the most common and the tractors were being used and worked..its not like we took one out of the fifties and suddenly give it a diet of 2003 oil technology. I had this experience with a B250 diesel and after removing 2" of black ooze from the pan I am using detergent oil and I have good oil pressure constantly, one of my H's is on detergent and I am assuming it was before, haven't had any problem with it either.
