Converting To 12 Volt system

Just a courious question. What are the pros and cons about using the original 6 volt generator and having it converted over to 12 volts? Then changing the coil and voltage reg.to 12 volts. We do antique cars like that, and the last one I had converted was a few years back at the cost of $45.00. I put a alternator on my Super A because I had it laying around, but I am keeping my original 6 volt generator on one of my Cubs and converting it to 12 volts because of the lack of avalable space to install a alternator. The information I have gained on this site is very valueable to me. Thanks
