Wayne - Going from memory here but I think it's like this: The "1" terminal on the light switch is the supply terminal. Connect it (thru a fuse) to the same ammeter terminal connected to the alternator BAT terminal. The "2" terminal is for the rear light; "3" is for headlights. The small coiled resistor on the "3" terminal is the headlight dimmer. The other resistor is left over from the original charging control system. You can remove it if you want. If it's wired correctly the lights will be off in switch positions L and H (you now have two "off" positions!) In D the rear light will be on bright and the headlights dim. In B all lights will be bright. Hope this helps...
