The cost of an overhaul will depend on the condition of the engine internals, and on if it is gas or diesel. The ovehaul kits are relatively cheap compared to the machining work that may be needed. Check out Endurance Power. They have a good site on the internet, and are very helpful on the phone. I have a 686 with a D312 which got water in the pan and it sat over the winter. Upon start up, I wiped and spun the main bearings. We had to line bore the block, the expensive part. Upon disassembly, we could see the water stains on the crank from the corrosin of the babbit. Rough estimate if you do the work, $1000.00-$1500.00 parts, and $750.00 to $1200.00 in machining work. You need a manual before you start. You can get one from Amazon.com., IH-202 by I&T shop manuals covers your tractor. They are cheap compared to the IH manuals and served me well. Each one covers multiple models. Good luck.
