Red: I always had two sets of wheel weights and max calcium chloride in tires of Farmall 300. Right from time tractor was new it took full throttle and would just barely put daylight under tires. It would lift one side at a time. The only two implements I ever used on fast hitch were a 3 point sprayer with an adapter and a 4 row fast hitch corn planter. I had to modify the sprayer controlls and move them off to one side. Sprayer controlls would hit seat. The sprayer controlls had been designed for tractors such as utilities or ferguson type of tractor so operator could reach them. This was actually better for operation, having them off to one side. The corn planter always was my main bone of contention, controlls again but not so easy to move. One day I was planting with 560, in 3rd gear, turning at headland quickly and back down the rows, as I lowered the corn planter on move, lever for row markers hooked back of seat as well as my hip pocket of trousers. The seat mount snaped. I managed to get my foot on clutch, but I was not able to reach hydraulic lever, gear shift or throttle until I freed my trousers. Had a few anxious moments with tip of my toe on clutch and 282 at about 1600 rpm. Didn't suffer any injuries other than I was damn sore for a few days. Another item I heard of problems with was roll over plows. I didn't have any frist hand experience with these. A company near me had a fleet of 560s and bought fast hitch roll over plows for them. The Farmall in my opinion really became a tractor with 04, 06 and 56, when they moved the operator foreward. This is why I am always saying Harry Ferguson won the hitch war before IH sold their first fast hitch. The hitch differences didn't matter, it was where you put the operator. I can remember my 656 with semi-mount plow in raised position and 2 feet of clearence under plow. I can remember a neighbor with 3 bottom fast hitch plow on 460. He would get in trouble on soft ground, tractor would spin down, plow wouldn't clear ground. Usually wound up being a tow job.

The Day Tractor Lovers Dream About - by Angus Crawford. The day started at five o'clock on the morning of Friday, the January 29, 1999. My father, my sister, my uncle, my cousin and myself all climbed into my uncle's Toyota van. It was six thirty in the morning and we had a long day ahead. We traveled for six and a half hours to our destination - a little country town with a population of no more then one hundred and fifty people (57 of them being children under the age of thirteen). We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
