Brian, I believe I'm correct in my understanding that the 340 Utility was basically the same tractor as the 300U/350U, except that they put a smaller engine in it for some reason that's really unclear to me (engine sizes were mostly getting bigger, not smaller, at that point in time). The other posts on weight and hydraulic capacity agree with what I think I know. This family of tractors had both live-PTO and the older transmission-driven PTO available as options. Trying to put a PTO on the tractor you're looking at is probably prohibitive because you're looking at pretty much rebuilding the transmission to get the PTO hooked into the power train, as well as adding the PTO itself. You'd almost certainly be better off looking for another tractor which already has the PTO, assuming you really need it. Hope this is helpful.
