Yes sprinkling a small amount of Bon- ami into intake on newly overhauled engines and sometimes new engines was done ocassionaly 50/60 years ago. This was said to help seat rings on engines that were using excess oil. Bon-amis slogan used to be "hasn't scratched yet" so I guess that is where they got the idea that it would do no harm. Probaly was no harder on cylinder walls than making cross hatch marks with hone which is still done sometimes.
