These wide fronts from Supers through to 56 series are basically the same. I had a 300, 560 and 656, all bought new. 560 and 656 came new with wide front. 300 had a wide front from a Super H as it came new with narrow front. All those front ends had the keyed spindle top. 656 had a longer controll arm at center which gave it qiucker and sharper turning radius. On IH front ends splined spindles did not come until 66 series tractors. Yes Super H had just as heavy front end as 856. Many items back then were over engineered. Something the younger generation will never experience. Take the old one lane overhead suspension bridges. Old timers took extra precaution, when crossing with steam traction engines. They put steel decks on those bridges, and 30-40 ton trucks used them and abused them. Usually when they went down with loaded truck, something on truck, over dimension damaged suspension and it was not the weight.
