Plid, that is far too slow and not normal, I am not really familiar with a 424, I have a B250 which is in that series I believe. My guess is that there is a restriction some where, I would start with a fliud check and a check of the filter, a screen that is in line on many of those era tractors.( I just checked my IT manual and it lists B275,B414, 424, 2424 and 3414 as similair) The followimg trouble shoot is given as you described. System lifts slowly:1. System overloaded. 2. faulty hydraulic pump. 3. suction filter plugged . 4. speed control piston stuck in the slow position. 5. faulty relief valve. 6. low oil in reservoir.....now since you have strong lift you can rule out some. I have valves on the B250 to turn to set front loader or rear 3 point. If they are not fully opened I get slow motion..does the 424 have this feature? The manual suggests 3 gallons of hy-tran for a tractor of that size, with the filler plug open run your pumps to purge air out of the system. I don't know where the filters are on a 424 but on the B250 there is an in line screen on the right of the trans housing beside the drivers right leg. This is where there is a coupling that comes apart to drain the hydraulic fluid to change it..inside that coupling is a screen which could be clogged..don't know if I helped or just made things worse but I am suspicious that there is a clog somewhere and its either the filter or the in line screen..good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario

When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
