I agree with Dave. Not original. Do what you want, but if I was going to have it on there, I would find a solid piece that would cover the entire deck. I can see two advantages. Reduce slippage and if a solid peice was put on there right would keep the deck dry from rain water. Rain water is natorious for getting into those reduced height spots where the bolts go. The rain water stands there untill dry and a small amount works its way through the deck bolts and into the rear end. If the rubber mat could keep the deck dry it would be an advantage but if it didn't, it would be a disadvantage becuase if allowed to get wet the rubber mat would lesson the chance for the rain water to dry off of the deck. Just my 2 cents worth.
