Help with identification of pistons

first time I have posted here,but have read some good information often.recently bought an M 1940 by the serial number. ihave the pistons out and they are aluminum step dome heads. the numbers on the head are Z-16, and 374265R1B, and on the skirt 4077 and Z . can anyone tell me what these are? I thought the Z-16 sounded like an M&W or firecrater number Ihad seen on here before. they are a 4.00 bore.Thanks for any help in advance.Iposted this yesterday on the pulling forum, but have not gotten any replies yet.
