Model A with hydraulic/spring seat?

Looked at an A yesterday. My 39 A has the double leaf springs with tool tray under the seat. This A had a spring and shock absorber - like what you'd find on an H. Anyone know if this was original and if so, what year they tried this. I have never seen this before. I looked for the name plate to get the serial #. It wasn't where they usually are on an A. FYI, tractor is in upstate NY, electric start, condition fair (although it starts and runs good), no hydraulics, the guy is asking 1250.00. A little high I thought
