I plant about 6 acres of Sweet corn each year and I spray with a tank sprayer with the boom on one side that covers just 4 38inch rows. So I plant 8 rows and skip 2 rows. I use overhead nozzles and later drop nozzles also , which means 3 nozzles per row. The secret is to start spraying when you see just a little bit of the tassle in the whirl. and continue spraying about every 5 to 7 days until harvest. I used to spray with Lannate but now spray with Warrior , use about 3 oz per acre, cost $200-$300 a gallon ,I forgot. There are alot of chemicals that will kill Corn ear worm and the European corn borer but I have trouble getting the Sap Beetle. You need to find a Commericial Vegetable Production Recommendations booklet like the one published by the Univ. of Md. or Univ..of Delaware Cooperative Extension Service.
