There's a lot of mis-information about the "39" tractors. The seat and transmission covers were used actually until mid-February 1940. If you go by those two features as identifying "39" tractors, then over half of them will have a serial number that is a "1940". The serial number "years" for those tractors actually run from November 1st to October 31st. IH didn't make tractors in model years after 1936, so identifying tractor features by years is just plain going to get you in trouble.
