An H or M farmall could have been equipped at the factory to accomadate either distillate (kerosene) or to run on straight gasoline. The distillate burners were more common because it was a much cheaper fuel. These tractors were equipped with the additional small tank to provide gasoline for starting the tractor. The straight gasoline burners can be identified by an X suffix after the serial# I have recently seen replacement caps for the small tank advertised but can't remember just where. Keep looking, I am sure you will find one.
