Les: I see where you are coming from. I suspect a lot of the use of add on 3 point hitches to tractors are for just that, lifting items. Not a big hassel either to plow gardens. Sure would beat taking that steel wheeled trailer plow around neighbour hood. My apologies, I tend to think 30 to 50 acres per day when it comes to plowing. I saw a neat wood splitter lately on a skid steer loader. Those little loaders have massive hydraulics compared to tractors. This guy had it mounted where quick tach bucket goes. He could mount either way up. The conventional way for a guy lifting wood onto splitter. He also could turn splitter over. When I was there he was going through blocks of wood 12 to 24 inches in diameter, halving and sometimes quartering them. He said when he would get blocks down to good lifting size, he would turn it and use as a bench splitter. He was going through this much faster than I would have expected. He was quite good at lining those sticks up with the machine from seat.

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
