Brian - Polarizing is simple to do. All you need is a short piece (about a foot) of #14 or so wire for a jumper. With everything properly hooked up - including the battery - and with the motor off, simply place the jumper between the BAT and GEN terminals at the regulator. You should see a small spark when you make the connection. When you get the spark, the system has been successfully polarized.
