Sounds steep to me. You can buy yourself another tractor for that price. You might want to ask the country locals for mechanics that work out of their own homes. Theres a lot of them that have left the rip-off auto repairs to start their own business.

The wear on the gears won't match up with new gears either. I don't think gear face contact is much of a concern given the age of the tractor.
Dad had an old international back in 71 that had
the clutch fork break. He had it repaired by a local.
