Well, it looks like the verdict is in... Based upon suggestions here, the sound is comming from or withing the lower part of the motor. I thought from the second cylinder back. The pull the spark plug wires trick reveals that the problem lies withing the last cylinder (farthest from the radiator). Yes, the knock grows faster with the engine rpm or at least is seams so. I have photos of the tractor on the web (see the link below). My next steps are to remove the loader, degrease and preasure wash her (externally) park her (still named Clarence for the moment) in the barn and start disassembly. I'll post pictures of the head and block once I remove the valve cover and pan so the experts can have a virtual looksie and guide me from there. thanks to all that have helped me. -MD
