radiator heat

I have a 1942 Farmall C that was having a overheating problem. I think we fixed that ,after bleeding the head and I know it's a thermosyphon system but was wondering why after it runs for about an hour the top of the radiator gets very hot (it doesn't boil over anymore) but the bottom of the radiator is very cold. I need to have an answer for my husband. Thanks for any assistance. Liz/Idaho
