Interestingly enough, in one of the IH books it shows a picture tractors on the IH assembly line(I forget which book and which tractors). What struck me about the picture was that all the tires appeared to be mounted "backwards", with the lugs facing the wrong direction. After reading this post, I'm betting it was done this way on purpose for shipping with the expectation that the recieving dealers would simply swap them side for side after delivery to have the wider tread width. Makes sense now!
