The MTA is more collectible because it was one of a kind (no TA on any other letter series), and not many were made. The number series is more refined than the letter series, particularly in the case of hydraulics, but the 300/350 and 400/450 are not as collectible because they are more common. Doesn't have to make sense from a practical standpoint. As far as the number series having a part in killing IH, that didn't start until the 460/560 series. IH was slow in upgrading their models during that time period. IH made many excellent tractors after that (and some not so good)
