My guess is that it's dirty oil,low oil or filter (wherever that is) needs cleaning. A major piston problem I would assume would cause no lift at all, so I'm not too worried about it. If an engine is good and the clutch doesn't slip, and the gears don't pop out I figure hydraulics aren't that much to fix.
