Save your band brakes! I have bands on my H and it will slide both rear wheels easily - you can also stop really fast without sliding the rear wheels.

SMTA has discs and can't stop for anything, been rebuilt once already. 544 has discs and they either lock or do nothing, and usually only one side works so it is dangerous.

I would definitaly just repair the band brakes.
