Braces on blade of 47 H

I recently found a blade for my 47 Super A that I purchased from a fine gentlemen here in Western Washington. It is mounted on the tractor and has been used to do some leveling and pushing of dirt. Yesterday my 21 year old son came up form the field with the braces that go from the pivot point underneath the front axle back to the bell housing all bent up. He indicated that he was just pushing dirt in first gear and they bent. These braces are factory stock braces. They should not have bent according to my experience. My theory is that he took a running start at a stump in 2nd or 3rd gear and the stump did not stop. Now you have to know that this son only knows two speeds and those are full tilt ahead or dead stopped. I also noticed a dent in the grill where a poretion of the blade hit the grill.
Have any of you ever bent these blade supports pushing anything in first gear on a Super A?
I am about to tell my son for safety sake and for the preservation of the equipment that he cannot use the tractor anymore.
