I have been able to get the top deck off of the speed tran before by tilting the cab and blocking it up on the front then unbolt the steering column and bring it up with the rear of the fuel tank. Only take the upper pin from the speed shift shaft coupler to keep the shifter from dropping down. Some cabs tilt and some you will have to loosen the rear mounts so they can tilt.
