Yes and you will see a few of those front ends on 300 and 400. There were quite a few of them floating around IH depots when the new front end with ty-rods behind came on the new Supers. Most of them were used up by dealer having a new tractor on lot with narrow front and customer wanting wide front. My dad bought one as they were less money than the new Super front end. My dad bought both wide and narrow as he being an old W4 guy didn't know whether he was going to like the narrow front. He put it on the tractor for about 2 months and changed back to narrow. It laid around couple years and went to a guy getting a new 300. I think near the end they would give you one for same price as narrow front.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
