I use the spray on sealer, it also comes as a brush on. Any auto parts store should have it on hand. 2-copper rings are for the valve cover bolts, go under the nuts. When I set valves I warm the engine up good, shut it off and set them. Crank the engine until 1 valve is open on #1 cylinder, set lash on the other valve, then crank until the valve you just set is open and set the other one. Fool proof way of doing it (if one valve is all the way open the other HAS to be closed). Be sure to recheck valve lash after a few hours of running time. My H was WAY off on valve lash after 5 hours run time. Oh yeah, warm engine up and let cool and retorque head again - you'll need to reset the valves at that time again too.
