first gear is the same in both, Rev., 1st and second are the same. When 4th is forward it is a road gear. 3rd gear is the same ratio as 4th would be if 3rd was in the forward position. Confused? My F20 has a road gear but the cover for the shift pattern has not been changed. Makes what is marked 3rd faster than 4th. When a road gear is installed, the original 3rd speed ratio is lost.
