Scott, Im not sure of the maximum temp on the exhaust manifold but back in the forties I dont believe they had or used high temp paint. They just sprayed everything red and when it burned off it had a red shade of rust. Today as you probably know they have ultra high temp paint to withstand the high temps on the exhaust manifold. Just go to your local auto shop and they should be able to fix you up. scotty
