Well, I got my Super AV running this weekend, but only for a few minutes. The engine bogged down and locked up. This surprised me, as everything in the engine was new : pistons, sleeves, crankshaft, bearings, timing gears, governor housing, oil pump, etc. The only thing that I rebuilt was the governor carrier assembly, with new weights, pins, bumper, bumper spring. Well, I assumed that I probably had a broken ring or a spun bearing, but after removing the head and oil pan, with no great discovery, I removed the governor housing only to find it in about 10 pieces. The weights and pins broke free from their retainers, and broke the bumper shaft. From what I can tell, it had to be the weight pin retainers on the governor carrier, as all but a tiny bit of the cracks were fresh.. Well, I guess now I will also have a new governor carrier assy in this tractor.
