Like Steve mentioned below, if you've now got a regulator in the system the flat resistor on the light switch is no longer required. The voltage regulator has taken over it's function.

As for the other resistor on the light switch (the dimmer), it will work fine on 12 volts. However it's "dimming" effect will be less noticable than when the system was on 6 volts.
