Jeff, installation of the ring gear is pretty straightforward. To get a new set of teeth on mine I carefully removed the gear and turned it over. It works well. The procedure once you have removed the flywheel from the engine: Clamp the transmission input shaft in the vise (6" wide jaws or larger) with the stub that goes in the pilot bearing pointing straight up and extending above the jaws about 4". Gently set the flywheel with pilot bearing still in it on the shaft so you can turn the flywheel. Make sure the clutch side of the flywheel is down, you don't want the weight of the flywheel to press the pilot bearing out and allow the flywheel to fall. With the torch pointing straight at the ring gear, turn the flywheel slowly and gently bring the ring gear up to temperature. DON'T get any of the ring gear red hot. Stop when you start to see a color change then tap it loose with a brass drift working your way around the gear. Once you have the gear off, take it in the house and put it in the oven set to 500°F. Go back to the vise and remove the flywheel from the input shaft and set it face (clutch side) down on the bench. Be careful, it may still be warm. Wire brush and clean up the flywheel where the ring will go back on. After about 15 minutes, retrieve the ring gear - still wearing heavy leather gloves - and drop it in place with the new side of the teeth toward the clutch side of the flywheel. When placing the ring gear over the flywheel its a good idea to hold it down against the flange on the flywheel while it cools. This will only take a few seconds. The ring gear I put on my H came away from the flange a little bit as it cooled and had to be tapped down while it was still warm.
