Paul: I have never tried this, I still have gear oil in my little offsets. A guy told of putting Hytran in an H that was leaking just slightly and the leaks stopped. From my use of hytran in many tractors over the years, I suspect he was telling me the truth. I have one nagging further question on this very matter. How does formula of hytran compare with John Deere hydraulic transmission oil. I am refering to oils of late 70s as I had a 100hp John Deere power shift at that time. One item I noticed was after using implements on the JD, hydraulic rams would get a very significant gleam to them. I always kept both oils and kept them segragated. The rams on the Deere itself always had that gleam to them. Rams on cylinders subjected to hytran only were dull by comparison.
