The engine in your W-400 is a C-264. It is found in Farmall Super M's, Super W-6's, Farmall 400's, it's big brother, the C-281, is found in Farmall 450's, it's little brother, the C-248, is found in Farmall M's and W-6's. All of these engines interchange, and if I remember correctly, the C-248 can be bored to C-264 specs. All of the tractors these engines were in were very popular, so a replacement block, should you need one, could be found cheaply at any tractor salvage yard. Are you planning to work the tractor hard? If so, the pickup engine won't last. Tractor engines are designed to take constant load, while automotive engines are built to take short periods of load. Also, is your Ford 300 fuel injected/computer controled? That might be fun to make work in a tractor.

How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
