You need to make sure that when your in 4th gear that your shifter has moved your shift rail all the way past the little detent balls on the underside of your transmission plate . There should be a distinct snap when you put it in fourth with the engine off. If there is not pop your shifter out by removing the welch plugs on the sides of the shifter tower ,slide the pin out and check for wear. Put it in neutral first, this keeps the 3 rails in line. Move the rails back and forth to see if they all snap forward and backwards. Line them back up before you put shifter back and check shifter for wear also. Good Luck..Tim K.
