Putting Head Gasket on 560D

I'm getting ready to install a new head gasket on my 560D. The head has been reworked and I've cleaned the block surface. My question is whether or not there should be gasket seal coating on the gasket surfaces or does the gasket go in with the block and head surfaces as clean raw metal? I'm thinking I used a spray on copper-like coating on a car engine head I rebuilt years ago.
