If the tractor runs good, TA works, has a 2 point hitch, tires are holding air and has all the parts and pieces on it that is came with I'd say 800 dollors was a steal. I've got a 56 300U that I paid a lot more than 800 for and put more than 800 into it. As for the front end, strength wise the fixed or adjustable front axles are pretty equal. The only difference is one can be adjusted. As mentioned by other posts the weak link is in the steering box. If you have manuel steering you would probably do less damage to the steering box than if you had power steering where you could really apply a lot of stress to the gear box due to hydraulic power. But even with a loader if you just make sure that you are moving before trying to horse the steering wheel you won't have any problems with the steering box. I haven't had any problems with my 300U and I like it. Its a comfortable tractor to bale and bush hog with.
