I worked as a field service mechanic for a construction equipment rental company for 4 yrs. During that time I came up with some real dandy quick fixes on equipment. One of my favorites is battery cables. A bad battery terminal can be "temporarily repaired" by cutting off the terminal, stripping about 1" of insulation off the cable and using a hose clamp to hold the cable to the battery post. The hose clamp will conform to the battery post no matter what size or shape it is, thus preventing costly battery replacement due to burnt posts.
