Steve, I think you're refering to the heavy gauge wheel...Here's the layout from the inside of the axle: First is a dust cap, then the inside wheel box, then a thrust collar with what looks like a 1/4" pin that goes through it and the axle, then the wheel, then the outside wheel box with the grease zerk in it.
The inside and outside wheel box bolt through the wheel with three 1/2" x 2-1/4" carriage bolts. I suspect the pin is sheared off flush with the axle and is not real noticeable. That's what holds the wheel on to the axle. Let me know if need a pic of it and I'll scan it and email it to ya.
