RET: I have just reread all discussion on this thread. I will add that at time of my earlier post I had not seen Bob M's responce, so my responce was as though I was first guy in which was not case. In reviewing people involved I have a incedent to tell backing my ongoing urging of people for more detail. Some years ago I changed my Farmall 130 to 12 volt alternator system. This way before my computer days and online aquaintence with Bob M and many others. Last year my 130 wiring harness got bad and created some problems. I had reviewed Bob M's wiring diagrams, and decided to rewire 130 as per Bob's diagrams. I had not read Bob's article in reasearch and info here at YT. I asked some questions on forum of Bob and the discussion ended with some advice. One item I neglected to tell Bob was I already had a 12 volt coil. Bob recomended and I installed a ballast resistor. This winter my 130 would turn great on starter, but would not fire up. I could take hand crank and one flip of crank and tractor was going. On Bob's advice removed the ballast resistor and problems were over. Bob would not have recomended ballast resistor had he known all the facts. I have been involved in numerous discussions on forums where this kind very slight omission throws everything out of wack. It has on ocasion caused red faces for people trying to answer. I have seen cost or unnecessary spending become a factor. Now a 3.95 ballast resistor isn't going to adversly affect anyone but a multi thousand dollar repair bill might. The little lecture in my earlier post although directed at you was intended for many. I guess myself included. To me this is why back and forth discussion is important, it gives a second, third or fourth chance to correct omissions. We have a great thing going here, we must try and improve it for all.

A Lifetime of David Brown - by Samuel Kennedy. I was born in 1950 and reared on my family’s 100 acre farm. It was a fairly typical Northern Ireland farm where the main enterprise was dairying but some pigs, poultry and sheep were also kept. Potatoes were grown for sale and oats were grown to be used for cattle and horse feeding. Up to about 1958 the dairy cows were fed hay with some turnips and after that grass silage was the main winter feed. That same year was the last in which flax was grown on the farm. Flax provided the fibre which w
