Am helping a friend on his A. We changed head gasket, buttoned it together and warmed it up. Water leaks out the upper hose to block gasket. This is a triangle shaped opening with a long area to seal and on the top, where it leaked, it is about only 5/16 wide. Also the metal here is pitted and is concave between the upper bolt holes on both head and hose casting. The gasket was not compressed in this area when we tore it back apart. We are now filing the metal surfaces of both to get them as smooth and free of pits and concavity as possible. We will use possibly a new thicker gasket and permatex avaition cement.
