My first reaction would be try and tolerate this for a bit. After for sitting 4 months or so, by adjusting you may just be compensating for something that will wear off in a few days. ie rust, hardened grease, oil and soil mix, shelac, etc. If it worked good before it will work good again, your tractor just needs some exercise.
