Jim: You allready have some pretty good advice. With a manual this rebuild would be piece of cake for a guy like you. Consult Ernie on the rebuild though, I am just an old farmer who probably put 60,000 hours on 5 of these tractors and only ever had one rebuild. That one was a 300. One item Ernie didn't mention is if you do rebuild the TA, in low range it will not hold back on the down grade. If you do rebuild the TA and after the rebuild just a few guidlines. 1. Always keep the main clutch and TA clutch adjusted to the letter. Close is not good enough with these. 2. Never let the tractor free wheel on down grade, in low range. 3. Always use CaseIH hy-tran oil or equivelant in the unit. 4. Always shift TA quickly, no feathering. I leave you in Ernie Bob's hands, he is the rebuild guy. I just know what it costs if you don't adhere to those rules I mentioned. I can also tell you how to get years of trouble free service out of your TA.
