I occasionally see some of these A or B tractors built out of "left overs". Yours sounds like one of them. The FAB in the serial number is for a "B". The "A"s would have FAA. The tricycle front end is B. Likely someone has swaped the complete left hand final drive assembly to make the overall width of the tractor narrower. I own an original A and know of someone who has a B (that I've serviced for the last 10 years) that they purchased new over 50 years ago so I know what A's and B's are supposed to look like. The BN has an overall narower width of the rear axle than a B. B or BN has engine on centerline of rear axle. A's have engine offset to the left of rear axle(like the Cub). B's all came with tricycle (narrow) front from factory. All A's came with wide front from factory. I once saw a B that someone installed a wide front off of an A. They then welded in a long extention to move the Left front wheel out to match the left rear tread. A saw a different B that someone installed the A left side final drive onto it to make a narrower rear tread. Hope this did not get you all more confused.
