Yeah John - the 2 wire setup (actually a "3 wire" setup due to the number of connections at the alternator) has a much lower energizing speed than the 1 wire units. However once they start charging, both the single and 3 wire units will charge the same amount at low speed.

Note also the 3 wire alternator costs about 1/2 as much as a single wire unit!
