The permanent repair is to have a machinist with experience at 'stitching' block and head castings handle the crack. The site of the crack is alternatively drilled, tapped, then a plug insert is screwed in place. A small overlap of each insert is made and repeated the full length of the crack extending slighly beyond what can be seen. JBWeld is great for many things, but for permanence, this is not one of them. Nickel welding of castings is extremely risky except for the experienced welder.
